One of the greatest rewards of designing trails is hearing that people enjoy them. I feel fortunate that many of the trails I’ve had a hand in creating bring people pleasure. It’s satisfying to promote the joys of Nordic skiing, whether it’s just a simple loop in the hills of southern Vermont which provides an opportunity for a landowner to ski with his grandchildren, or the Tenth Mountain Division biathlon facility in Fort Kent, Maine which hosted a 2004 World Cup competition viewed by more than 10,000 spectators on site, and 20 million more in Europe on live television.
